$84.75 (including HST) Certification Membership, valid for two years, plus insurance $67.80 (including HST). Includes unlimited certifications, membership card and benefits.
Continuing Education Credits (CEC’s)
In order to maintain your certification you are required to obtain CEC’s. All certifications require 10 CEC’s every two years except the PFT which requires 20 CEC’s.
CEC’s are awarded for all NSFA regional workshops as well as our annual Fitness Friendzy conference. All other professional development courses must be evaluated by the office in order to determine whether or not they are valid for CEC’s.

Insurance
After extensive negotiations on your behalf, the NSFA is pleased to announce that as of 2004, all NSFA Fitness Leaders (Group, Resistance Training, Aqua and Older Adult) will receive $2 million Commercial General Liability insurance coverage through TOS Insurance Services Ltd for $30 per leader per year.
The NSFA mandatory insurance program will ensure that all Fitness Leaders have adequate coverage based upon their Scope of Practice regardless of where they instruct in the Province of Nova Scotia, and will complement existing coverage provided by some facilities.

FitBits
FitBits is a newsletter for the membership of the Nova Scotia Fitness Association (NSFA). Produced quarterly by NSFA, the newsletter is meant to be a source of information for members on NSFA activities, including upcoming courses and workshops, as well as provide members with helpful and informative information relating to fitness and health.
The newsletter is sent via email or regular mail to all members of the NSFA including: group fitness leaders, resistance trainer leaders, older adult fitness leaders, youth fitness leaders, aqua fitness leaders and personal fitness trainers.

Re-Certification
Maintenance of your certification requires re-certifying every two years. This includes giving proof of current CPR/First Aid, as well as 10 continuing education credits (CECs) taken during those two years, as well as proof of 10 hours of instruction in the two years. CECs are available by participating in workshops and conferences, such as our annual Fitness Friendzy conference.

Group Fitness Leadership (GFL)
1. Maintain current level A CPR
2. Maintain NSFA membership and insurance fee.
3. Obtain 10 CEC's over two year period.
4. Perform 40 hours of on-floor instruction within the two year period
5. Practical evaluation every 4 years after initial certification.
Resistance Training Leadership (RTL)
1. Maintain current level A CPR
2. Maintain NSFA membership and insurance fee.
3. Obtain 10 CEC's over two year period.
4. Perform 40 hours of on-floor instruction within the two year period
5. Practical evaluation every 4 years after initial certification.
Older Adult Fitness Leadership (OAFL)
1. Maintain current level A CPR
2. Maintain NSFA membership and insurance fee.
3. Obtain 10 CEC's over two year period.
4. Perform 40 hours of on-floor instruction within the two year period
5. Practical evaluation every 4 years after initial certification.
Aquafit Leadership (AFL)
1. Maintain current level A CPR
2. Maintain NSFA membership and insurance fee.
3. Obtain 10 CEC's over two year period.
4. Perform 40 hours of on-floor instruction within the two year period

Youth Fitness Leadership (YFL)
1. Maintain current level A CPR
2. Maintain NSFA membership and insurance fee.
3. Obtain 10 CEC's over two year period.
4. Perform 20 hours of on-floor instruction within the two year period
5. Practical evaluation every 4 years after initial certification.
Personal Fitness Trainer (PFT)
1. Maintain current level A CPR and Emergency First Aid.
2. Maintain NSFA membership
3. Obtain 20 CEC's over two year period.
4. Proof of 100 hours of on-floor experience as a PFT within the two year period.
5. Practical evaluation every 4 years after initial certification.
